Stormwater Management
PGA have adapted the following principal objectives
of Stormwater Management.
• Comply with the State Environmental Protection
Policies (SEPPs) that requires all water runoff
has minimal environmental impact on the receiving
waterways.
• Retain and enhance natural floodways.
• Preserve and enhance environmentally sensitive
areas by retention of a maximum number of existing
trees and other significant flora.
• Provide appropriate water quality treatment
prior to stormwater discharge into the waterways.
• Provide large areas of water quality treatment
for the external catchment.
• Provide such additional water quality treatment
and retardation of flows developed from the existing
catchments external to the site to produce a decrease
in peak flows and increase water quality for waters
discharging downstream of the development.
• To enhance the existing natural channels
and provide wetlands as appropriate.
• To retard the peak inflow by use of detention
basins and off-stream storage areas.
• To test, model and monitor the actual stormwater
quality, as compared to SEPP objectives.
These principals have been developed by PGA, and
been put into practice at Herriott’s Glen,
Heritage and Sandhurst Club developments to mention
a few.
In addition to stormwater management, at Heritage
all stormwater and sewerage effluent is treated
on site by the use of ponds and flora, and reused
for watering landscaped areas. The ponds also add
to aesthetics and form part of the passive recreational
areas.
